Recently, research group of Prof. Hongen Liao, department of Biomedical Engineering, School of Medicine, Tsinghua University, makes important progress in the field of pneumatic soft robotics. The pneumatic concept and system proposed in this study have the unique advantages of “positive and negative pressure integration” and “controllable inflation and deflation” characteristics. The proposed design concept can be used as a universal pneumatic platform to satisfy the robust pressure requirements ranging from negative to positive driven robots.

Recently, Jiahui Zhang, a PhD candidate, won the first place of CVPR 2019 Image matching Workshop Challenge. Together with Zixin Luo from The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology and Dawei Sun from Intel Labs China, they proposed a graph neural network based outlier rejection method which largely improves the performance. Recently, Prof. Hongen Liao, from the Department of Biomedical Engineering, School of Medicine, Tsinghua University, and Prof. Guihuai Wang from the Department of Neurosurgery of Beijing Tsinghua Changgung Hospital, collaborated in the internationally renowned academic journal《Theranostics》entitled "Dual-modality optical diagnosis for precise in vivo identification of tumors in neurosurgery". This paper reports a novel optical diagnostic method and system that combines tissue autofluorescence spectroscopy (AFS) information with optical coherence tomography (OCT) information to achieve rapid and accurate identification of tumor tissue, providing new ideas for clinically accurate diagnosis and treatment of tumor diseases.
